Housewarming

My lovely friend Vane stopped by last week with a beautiful orchid to welcome us to our new home. Little did she know the flowers would result in a bonanza of images as well. It's been a while since I have done much playing with reflections and shutter speed but some of those types of images are among my personal favorites so I decided to have some fun on a chilly morning this weekend.  These were originally intended for my P52 square aspect ratio assignment but I went completely overboard so had to put them in a separate post.

P52.2: Framed {Week 19}

Over at Who We Become, our look at perspective continues to feature crop ratios - this week, 1:1 - a square crop. Dynamic, inclusive and comparatively small, this is an interesting crop to work with and as I am not an Instagrammer, I have very little practice with the format. So today, I decided to break out the macro and have a little fun. Or maybe too much fun, because an entirely different set of images is being saved for another post. But for now: feathers.

Photo 52: A Play on Light {29} - Long & Cold Indeed

In P52's final week of artificial light, I find myself making a plea.

Dear Mother Nature,
I would like to call your attention to the date on the calendar and request that you give me the opportunity to bid adieu to this never-ending winter. Here, a small peace offering lest you doubt my sincerity:

Please continue around the blog circle to see how everyone has closed out this rather challenging month on artificial light, starting with our newest blog circle member, my lovely local friend and talented photographer, Julie Mak.

Photo 52: Hard Light Week 2

Winter flowers, city lights. When presented with something so lovely, it's hard to resist documenting it at every angle; up close and from afar.

Next up in the Photo 52 blog circle is my friend and fellow New Yorker, the exceptionally gifted and very lovely Sarah Roemer Davis. Please check out her blog and take a spin through the chain to see my fellow Photo 52 participants' interpretations of hard light this week.
