8 Days a Week - June
Drum roll, please: I am an aunt! I got to meet my sweet, brand new, beautiful nephew this month and this guy is cemented into my heart. My brother and sister in law are already rocking the parenting thing and anyone who knows them simply marvels at how lucky their baby is to have such incredible parents.

Who We Become - June 2016
Summer is coming! This one is shaping up to be a busy one, but after the fun I had last with my daily shooting project last year, I have decided to give my 75 days of summer (give or take, I haven't counted yet) another go. We are kicking off the summer holidays in Italy next week so it will start out on a high note that I won't be able to sustain, but so it goes. Stay tuned.
In the meantime, this smiley person has been asking me to "take a picha, mommy?" lately, so how can I say no? One {May 2016}
With my big kid in school and increasingly of an age where he's not so keen on being in front of the camera, the sad reality is that I have far fewer pictures of him as of late. I hope to fix that a little over the summer. In the meantime, the small kid is making up for it. She is hilarious at the moment and very theatrical. Her most recent game is to make sad, serious faces at the camera and then a few second later she's cracking up at how funny she is. 8 Days a Week - May
On Mondays, we head up to our old neighborhood for piano lessons. The stroller and carrier are things of the past, because the lesson's spectator is "big" now and needs no help whatsoever. Except she will accept the occasional hand up the stairs from her favorite older brother. Notably, recent schedule changes have opened up an opportunity for a snack stop en route...

Night Exhibit at the Center for Fine Art Photography
Somehow I forgot to post about some exciting news I received a few weeks ago. Two of my images were selected by juror Sean Corcoran for the upcoming Night Exhibit at the Center for Fine Art Photography in Fort Collins, CO. Unfortunately, I am unable to attend the opening reception but I hope if anyone is out that way, that you can take a moment to stop in. It's a very cool collection of work and I am so thrilled and honored to be a part of it.

We took a quick trip upstate to visit Grandma and Pa over Spring Break, where I learned that one way to get a picture of the two of them together is to stick them in a tree where they can't get down.

With family in town, we decided to take in the view from the One World Trade observatory. It occurs to me, next time I'm downtown, I might want to remember to take a picture of the building from the outside...

8 Days a Week - April 2016
Last month, I kicked off a new collaborative project with a group of amazing photographers. Entitled 8 Days a Week, it's all about whatever we see, whenever we can see it. I don't have a particular theme in mind, but expect to share a little more of our everyday as the year progresses. Please continue on to the amazing Crystal Hardin to see her images this month.
Below, a few snaps from a recent beautiful day we had, before our April Winter arrived. In the first, our scooter-obsessed Evel Knievel is distracted from her speedy ways by a dripping wall faucet. In the second, I promised them ice cream if only we could leave the scooters at home and enjoy a peaceful walk. Several blocks with big brother's hand was a close second to her 3-wheeled fun.
One {March 2016}
It was hard to choose what to use for this month's One circle - we had a 2nd birthday and Easter Eggs and a lot of scooting...but this lovely Good Friday in Central Park resulted in my favorite photos. We brought the "cape and eyes" and wandered around enjoying the warm weather, eating ice cream, running at the speed of light and looking out for bad guys.

In like a lion...
Spring is (almost) here and with it, a motivation on my part to commit to the camera. In furtherance of that objective, I'm joining a tremendous group of photographers in a new project entitled Eight Days a Week. Please join us!
These were taken at the beginning of the month, and seeing as it is March, lions large and small seemed appropriate. Here's hoping next week brings the lamb. Please continue on to our next contributor, the exceptional Jill Cassara.
Who We Become - March
This one has two obsessions at the moment: her "scoodah and hemmet" and her "rainy boots." Today was not a day for the scooter and helmet but we managed to avert a meltdown when she realized she could wear her rain boots outside (instead of with her pjs as she is wont to do) AND bring her umbrella. While it stopped raining not long after we left the house, she felt rather strongly that the umbrella was still necessary. I had my camera on me, so wasn't about to argue the point.
Did I mention she is almost two? She's going to be great at it, we can already tell.

One {January 2016}
There is something unusual about marking the passage of time with a monthly project. Other monthly events - paying bills, attending certain work meetings - are habitual and pass without much notice beyond the flurry of "oops, need to send in the rent check." Which, come to think of it, I DO need to send in the rent check.
But our One Circle is the opposite of routine for me. Not only is it something I have in the back of my mind throughout the month as I go through my photographs, but as we kick off our fourth year of this adventure together, I can look back on 36 images that encapsulate this time in my life and consider the journey - how quickly and how slowly the time has passed, all at once. And at the heart of it, this project serves as a testimonial to the beautiful friendships that have grown with me and helped sustained me along the way. Here's to 2016, ladies. I love you all.
